Investing in Innovation as a Brand Strategy. Valencian and international company, EMAC® Group, a leader in technical and decorative profiling, has increased its investment in industrial property by 86% and in R&D&I by 41% in 2023. This move reflects its commitment to brand protection, patents, and industrial models. The company currently holds more than 120 protected registrations, including models, designs, and trademarks, as well as proprietary and unique material formulations such as MAXI, which incorporates plant fibers into its composition, and ASTRA®, an ultra-resistant polymer suitable for all types of environments.

In the past fiscal year, the company, present in over 100 countries with subsidiaries in the United States and Italy, has experienced "controlled, sustainable, and profitable" growth, nearing 5% in 2023. This continues to reflect the stability often seen in family businesses. “The recurrence of profits allows us to maintain a strong cash position and undertake all investment projects with self-financing,” says CEO Emi Boix.

The company, which specializes in profiles, expansion joints, technical mats, and universal accessibility and safety systems, sells its solutions to a highly demanding international market, which is increasingly contributing to its revenue. In 2023, the international market accounted for 39% of the total turnover compared to 61% from the national market.

The profits reinvested in 2023 will mainly be used to drive the growth of the company’s three locations in Valencia, Miami, and Sassuolo (Italy). Additionally, they will be allocated to continue fostering innovation and measures aimed at improving the well-being of the EMAC® team and their professional development, such as training to work with AI, explains Emi Boix.

Design and Decoration: Non-Negotiable Values

For 2024, the company led by the Boix sisters – Emi, Nuria, and Laura – has new innovation projects underway that “will make a significant difference in our sector. They will not only solve technical issues but also emphasize design and decoration as non-negotiable values,” notes EMAC® CEO Emi Boix. Regarding current sales and results, Boix expresses optimism, stating that sales in the first quarter have picked up compared to previous years.

The Valencian company has secured a top position in a demanding and competitive sector, with its solutions being internationally recognized for their innovation, design, and sustainability—values that are the backbone of this family business, founded 37 years ago by Juan José Boix in the Valencian town of Quart de Poblet.

Some of their solutions – all made in Spain – can be found in iconic buildings such as the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, airports in Dubai, Santiago de Chile, and Tocumen (Panama), the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Morocco, and stores of brands like Zara, El Corte Inglés, and Primark.

BuildingEye® system: The Solution that Will Revolutionize Construction

EMAC® Group has taken a significant step forward in technological innovation applied to sustainability with the BuildingEye® system, an innovation unveiled at the recent CERSAIE fair. This advanced monitoring system is positioned as a key tool for optimizing building management, minimizing both maintenance costs and the environmental impact associated with infrastructures.

BuildingEye® is based on Internet of Things (IoT) technology, providing continuous surveillance of the structural condition of buildings. Installed in structural joints, the system measures a series of essential parameters that allow for early detection of potential issues or anomalies. This preventive capability helps avoid deep, costly repairs and reduces the risk of accelerated deterioration that could compromise the stability and safety of the building. By addressing problems before they escalate, the system ensures not only the durability of structures but also the safety of their occupants.

BuildingEye® System

In addition, the BuildingEye® system integrates efficiently with smart buildings, allowing remote access to real-time data from a control room (SCADA) or any internet-connected device. This flexibility enables quick and informed decision-making regarding the building’s condition, directly contributing to greater energy efficiency and operational sustainability.

The environmental impact of construction and infrastructure maintenance is significant, but solutions like the BuildingEye® system provide a way to mitigate it. Currently in its final development phase, with testing underway in a pilot building, this new challenge embraced by the Valencian company EMAC® promises to revolutionize the concept of preventive maintenance in the construction industry.
