Emi Boix: "We need to work on restarting the company as soon as possible to provide jobs and a stable economic environment."

Journalist Ashi Sharma, from the BBC radio program Business Daily, visited Valencia two weeks after the floods caused by the DANA last October. During his visit, Sharma came to our facilities to interview our CEO, Emi Boix, and learn firsthand how we experienced this devastating situation.
The Impact of the DANA on EMAC Grupo
The interview allowed our CEO to share how the floods affected both our operations and our human team.
“We are still reviewing the materials. We think everything will be fine, but it was terrible,” said Emi Boix.
Sharma toured our warehouse, where, despite being cleaned, reddish-brown stains still showed how high the mud had risen, reaching knee height in some areas. Emi explained that many of our machines, custom-made with unique technology, were lost due to the water and mud.
“It has been very hard for us personally. Some of the people in our teams were seriously affected: friends, business owners close to us... We’ve lost many kind people,” our CEO shared.
A Commitment to Recovery
During the interview, Emi highlighted our commitment not only to restoring our facilities but also to the well-being of our team, collaborators, and the community at large:
“We have to think about our businesses and try to restart the company as soon as possible to provide jobs and a stable economic environment. We are taking care of our people: not just our team and their families but also our suppliers and close collaborators, many of whom have been affected.”
Logistical Challenges After the Catastrophe
The CEO of EMAC Grupo also explained that, due to the floods, our operations were halted for six days. This stoppage, combined with logistical difficulties caused by the state of the roads, made it challenging for our team and clients to access our facilities.
“Transport and logistics were a real challenge. Our roads were inaccessible, which greatly hindered our activity.”
Special Thanks
We want to thank Ashi Sharma for his sensitivity and professionalism in conducting this interview during such a delicate time for EMAC Grupo and for Valencian society as a whole. In addition to interviewing our CEO, Sharma also spoke with other entrepreneurs and affected individuals, providing a comprehensive view of the DANA’s impact on our region.
