EMAC® Group featured in the BBC’s second report: 6 months after the DANA

"At EMAC® Group, we have upheld our commitment to people."

BBC Business Daily journalist Ashi Sharma returned to Valencia six months after the DANA storm that hit the region last October. On this second visit, Sharma came back to our facilities to meet again with our CEO, Emi Boix, and see first-hand how EMAC® Group’s recovery has progressed.

A visible transformation, but not without scars
"It looks like a completely different warehouse compared to last November," Sharma remarked as he toured our site again. Although the mud no longer covers the floor and the machines are working again, recovery has been neither easy nor immediate.

"It’s taken us much longer than we would have liked," our CEO admitted. "We had to repolish and clean all the machinery to get it back up and running. If we hadn’t managed to do that, the investment would have been unaffordable—even for a financially sound company like ours."

A united and committed team
Despite the difficulties, EMAC® Group remained true to its commitment to people. "We kept the entire team. We didn’t lay anyone off. We wanted them to keep their jobs," Emi explained. Recovery was not just technical—it was also human. Taking care of our team, their families, and our partners has been a priority from day one.

The other side of the coin: small businesses
During the interview, Emi Boix also spoke as president of IVEFA, the Family Business Association of Valencia and Castellón. In this role, she warned of the tough reality many small and medium-sized businesses in the region continue to face.

"I’m in contact with many member companies that still need help today. Some are closing because they’ve received no support and see no clear future," she said.

One of the biggest problems remains the lack of response from insurance companies. "Many businesses haven’t received the insurance payouts they expected, and that’s left them completely stuck," she noted.

Looking ahead
At EMAC® Group, we continue moving forward responsibly, aware that recovery goes beyond our own walls. As always, we thank Ashi Sharma for giving a voice to our story—and to that of so many other businesses that, with effort and dedication, are rebuilding the economic and human fabric of our region.
