Stair nosing
What are stair NOSING?
Stair nosings are profiles designed to finish and protect the edge of steps, improving both the safety and aesthetics of the staircase. These profiles are integrated into the step or placed on top of it, acting as a key element in its final finish. Each stair profile is composed of two main parts:
- Tread surface (technical tread): This is the visible and functional area of the profile where the foot rests. It may incorporate anti-slip materials or finishes that enhance safety during use.
- Fixing wing: This is the part of the profile that is embedded under the covering (such as ceramic or stone) or fixed to the substrate, ensuring proper installation and durability.
Functions and Characteristics
- Safety: EMAC® stair profiles are designed to improve safety on stairs, incorporating anti-slip surfaces, contrast strips, or even photoluminescent solutions for better visibility.
- Aesthetics: Steps can be finished with a variety of materials, such as ceramic, wood, stone, or metal, to complement the interior design of the space.
- Durability: Due to constant use, the materials used for stair treads must be wear-resistant and easy to maintain.
- Accessories: Finishing profiles, such as those from the Novopeldaño® range by EMAC, can be used to protect step edges, enhance safety with anti-slip surfaces, and provide a decorative finish.
In summary, stair treads are not only essential for the functionality of a staircase but also contribute significantly to the safety and aesthetics of the environment.
