Emi Boix Presents the Accessibility Award at the 2025 NAN Architecture Awards
The 2025 NAN Architecture and Construction Awards once again gathered the main stakeholders in the industry to celebrate talent, innovation, and excellence in architectural design. A well-established event that, in this edition, once again highlighted architecture that transforms, improves people’s lives, and is committed to responsible, sustainable, and accessible solutions. In this context, EMAC® Group had the honor of actively participating in the gala held in Madrid—a night dedicated to celebrating the work of studios, professionals, and projects that are shaping the future of architecture.
Presentation of the Fundación ONCE Accessibility Award
One of the most special moments of the gala was the presentation of the Fundación ONCE Accessibility Award, a distinction that recognizes projects committed to universal accessibility as a core pillar of architectural design.
Representing EMAC® Group, our CEO Emi Boix presented the award together with Luis Borau from Fundación ONCE—a gesture that reinforces the company’s involvement in a purpose that is part of its DNA: creating safe, inclusive, and accessible environments for everyone.
The award was presented to the San Isidoro Museum – Royal Collegiate Church of San Isidoro in León, by FRADE ARQUITECTOS, and was accepted by Javier García Vaquero, the architect responsible for the project.
The intervention was recognized for its ability to modernize one of Spain’s most important Romanesque complexes while balancing heritage conservation and accessibility.
Thanks to this project, the museum has tripled its exhibition space, opened areas that were previously inaccessible, and redefined internal circulation—enhancing the visitor experience with a new reception center and cultural spaces, all without altering the building’s historical harmony.
A clear example of how accessibility can be respectfully integrated into historic heritage, improving the use and enjoyment of space for everyone.
Accessibility as a Pillar of Architectural Design
