EMAC® Group takes part in Andimac’s podcast “One Sector, One Voice”

Emi Boix, CEO of EMAC®, discussed tradition, future, and the value of family business.

Our CEO, Emi Boix, took part in the video-podcast One Sector, One Voice, promoted by Andimac, to reflect on the major challenges facing family businesses in the professional distribution sector of construction materials, plumbing, and HVAC.

From the founder’s passion to a global project

During the discussion, Emi recalled her father, the founder of EMAC®, who from an early age instilled in her a passion for the business and the importance of doing things with effort and consistency. That vocation led her to study Law and Business Management, and to work in every role in the company—from the warehouse to management—to deeply understand the business and prepare for generational succession.

Today, together with her sisters, she leads EMAC® Group in a second generation that has brought the company to operate in over 100 countries, with branches in the United States, Mexico, and Italy.

This international trajectory is sustained by very clear values: innovation, excellence, social commitment, closeness, service vocation—and, as Emi emphasizes, joy as a driving force at work.

The challenge of generational succession

One of the core topics of the conversation was succession in a family business. Emi stressed the importance of new generations engaging with the company, even if they do not immediately intend to lead it. “It is essential that they understand how the business works, what value it creates, and what legacy it represents,” she explained.

In that sense, she underscored that continuity does not depend only on technical training, but on transmitting passion, commitment, and respect for the efforts of those who started the journey. Developing programs for immersion and training is key to ensuring this succession is orderly and sustainable.

In a sector increasingly shaped by digitalization, omnichannel strategies, and logistics transformation, Emi pointed out that the human factor remains the greatest asset of family enterprises. “In a world where everything tends to become depersonalized, we must strengthen trustful relationships between people and companies. It’s not just about selling and buying but about building long-lasting collaborations based on trust and shared values,” she affirmed.

Looking ahead

For EMAC® Group, the future involves continuing to innovate and professionalize teams, but always without losing the family essence that has marked our history. Attracting young talent, transmitting organizational values, and maintaining consistency in our way of working are, in Emi’s words, essential pillars for tackling the coming years. “Honoring the legacy of those who founded the company while leaving our own mark is the great challenge of any family business,” she summed up.
